David personally makes sure your documents are done correctly. He reviews every answer you provide, drafts the documents himself, and confirms each decision with you before anything is finalized. Nothing is templated or automated without an attorney's involvement, and nothing moves to signing until you're satisfied it's right.

What if my situation is complicated?

Complicated situations are exactly where an attorney matters most. Blended families, business ownership, out-of-state property, and long-term care concerns are all handled directly by David, who tailors your plan to your circumstances. Every plan is built around trust-based protection, and Legacy Complete adds white-glove trust funding and advanced tax planning for families whose needs go further.

What if I already have a will or an online plan?

If you already have a will or a plan from an online service, David can review it and tell you whether it holds up for your situation and your state. Existing documents sometimes have gaps, outdated beneficiaries, or clauses that no longer match your wishes. He'll advise whether yours can be updated or is better replaced, so you're not starting over unless you need to.

What happens to my family if I don't have a plan?

Without a plan, the state decides how your assets are distributed and a court decides who manages your affairs, which can leave your family waiting months for access to a home or accounts they need. If you have young children, a court, rather than you, chooses who raises them. An estate plan puts those decisions in your hands and spares your family from making them under pressure.

What happens if I have questions after I sign?

You can reach David directly whenever something changes or you're unsure about a decision. Every plan also comes with a complimentary three-year review, so as your life evolves, with new children, a move, or a change in assets, your plan stays current. This is built as a lasting relationship, not a one-time transaction.

What's included in an estate plan?

Every estate plan includes the core documents your family needs: a will, healthcare and financial powers of attorney, a living will, and HIPAA authorization, plus guardian designations if you have minor children. Every plan is also built around a revocable living trust with asset protection. David confirms the right document set for your situation during your review, so nothing essential is missing and you're not paying for anything you don't need.

How much does an estate plan cost?

You can start for free. Everyone begins by building their plan online at their own pace, answering the guided questions and entering their family's details at no cost and with no commitment. When you're ready to move forward, a $500 deposit reserves your consultation with David. In that meeting, David reviews what you've built and recommends the plan that best protects your particular family: The Legacy Plan at $6,500, or Legacy Complete at $8,500, which adds white-glove trust funding where our team retitles your assets into the trust for you. Which plan is right isn't decided by a menu. It's decided together, based on your situation and what your family actually needs. Whatever plan you agree on is a single flat fee, settled before any work begins, with no hourly billing and no surprise invoices. Your $500 deposit is credited toward that fee, so you know your full cost up front. Legacy Complete can also be paid in a 50/50 split.

How long does the process take?

Most families go from completing the online experience to a signed plan in as few as 14 days. You spend about 30 minutes on the guided online questions, have a 45-minute virtual review with David, then a mobile notary comes to your home or office for a signing of about 45 minutes. That's roughly two hours of your time in total for an attorney-drafted plan.

Do I have to come into an office?

No office visit is required at any point. You complete the guided experience online, meet David by video for your review, and a mobile notary comes to your home or office for the signing. The entire process is built to fit around your schedule, so families across North Carolina and South Carolina can work with David without traveling to meet him.

Do I need a trust, or is a will enough?

Whether you need a trust or a will comes down to how you want your assets handled and how much court involvement you want to avoid. A will directs who receives what, but it still goes through the court process. A revocable living trust transfers your assets directly to your family without that delay and keeps your affairs private. David walks you through which approach fits your family during your review, so the decision is made with an attorney, not guessed at.

Can I update my plan later if things change?

Your plan is built to be updated as your life changes. A revocable living trust and the supporting documents can be amended when you have a new child, move, buy property, or your wishes shift. Every plan includes a complimentary three-year review, and David can make updates whenever a major change calls for one. Legacy Complete includes your first plan update at no additional cost.

Is my information secure?

Your information is kept secure throughout the process. You complete everything through a protected online platform, communicate with David through secure messaging, and your documents and personal details stay within the firm's system. This is the same confidentiality you'd expect from any law firm, handled digitally so you can work at your convenience.

What's a revocable living trust?

A revocable living trust holds your assets during your lifetime and passes them to your family without going through court. Revocable simply means you stay in control: you can change it or cancel it entirely at any time. Because a trust avoids probate, your family gets access to what you've left them faster, and your affairs stay private. A revocable living trust is included in every plan.

What does a will actually do?

A will names who receives your property, who settles your estate, and who raises your children if they're still minors. It takes effect only after you die, and it passes through the court probate process before anything reaches your family. What's a healthcare power of attorney?

A healthcare power of attorney names the person who makes medical decisions for you if you're ever unable to make them yourself. Without one, your family may need a judge's permission to act, at the worst possible moment. Every plan includes one, along with a HIPAA authorization so the person you've chosen can actually access your records and speak with your doctors.

What's a financial power of attorney?

A financial power of attorney, also called a durable power of attorney, names someone you trust to handle your finances when you can't. That covers paying bills, managing accounts, dealing with property, and filing taxes. Without one, your family may have to petition a court for that authority. It works while you're alive and ends at your death, which is where your will or trust takes over.

What's an advance directive, or living will?

An advance directive, often called a living will, puts your end-of-life wishes in writing: which treatments you'd want, and which you wouldn't, if you were terminally ill or permanently unconscious. It speaks for you when you can't speak for yourself, and it spares the people you love from guessing, or arguing, about what you would have chosen. Every plan includes one.

Do I need to name guardians for my kids?

If your children are under 18, yes. Without named guardians, a judge who has never met your family decides who raises them, and in the hours right after an emergency your children could be placed in the care of strangers. Every plan includes both long-term and short-term guardian designations, so someone you've chosen can step in immediately.

Program Name and Purpose

This page sets out the terms and conditions of the Carolina Legacy Law Group, PLLC client text message program. The program sends transactional updates to existing clients about their own legal matter. It is operated by Carolina Legacy Law Group, PLLC, an estate planning law firm licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina. This is not a marketing or promotional program, and we do not send advertising through it.

Messages You Will Receive

Enrolled clients receive a text when their attorney sends them a message in their secure client portal. Each message identifies the firm, tells you to sign in to your portal to read and reply, and includes opt-out instructions. We never include the content of your message, your matter details, or any other confidential information in a text. Example: "New message from Carolina Legacy Law. Sign in to your client portal to read and reply: [portal link] Reply STOP to opt out."

How to Opt In

Text messaging is off by default for every client. To enroll, sign in to your client portal, open your Profile page, and turn on the "Text message updates" setting. Before you turn it on, that setting displays the mobile number that will be texted, states that message and data rates may apply, and states that you can reply STOP to opt out. Turning it on records your consent with a timestamp. The firm cannot turn this setting on for you, and no one is enrolled without taking this step themselves. There is no text-message keyword for joining the program.

Message Frequency

Message frequency varies and depends on activity in your matter. Most clients receive a small number of messages over the life of their engagement — typically only when their attorney replies to them in the portal. There is no recurring or scheduled send.

Cost

Carolina Legacy Law Group, PLLC does not charge you for these messages. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan and carrier. Contact your wireless provider for details about your plan.

How to Opt Out

You may cancel at any time. Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, or REVOKE to any message from us and you will receive a single confirmation, after which we will send you no further texts. You may also turn the "Text message updates" setting off in your client portal, which has the same effect. Opting out of texts does not affect your legal representation, your access to the client portal, or the email notifications you continue to receive.

Eligibility

The program is available only to existing clients of Carolina Legacy Law Group, PLLC who have an active client portal, who are 18 years of age or older, and who have a mobile number capable of receiving SMS in the United States. We do not offer the program to the general public and there is no way for a non-client to enroll.

Carriers and Delivery

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed and depends on your carrier, device, and coverage. Because delivery cannot be guaranteed, text messages are a convenience notification only — your secure client portal and email remain the authoritative channels for anything concerning your matter, and you should not rely on a text message to receive time-sensitive information.

Privacy

If you opt in, we collect your mobile number and a timestamped record of your consent. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Changes to These Terms

We may update these SMS terms and conditions from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes to how the program operates will be communicated to enrolled clients before they take effect.
